What Evaheld does not replace

Storing a preference in Evaheld does not by itself make it a legally valid advance care directive, appoint a decision-maker or override clinical judgment. Requirements vary by jurisdiction, and formal documents may need particular wording, signatures, witnesses or professional input.

Evaheld supports preparation and communication. People should use the relevant legal and medical pathways for binding documents and discuss significant healthcare decisions with qualified professionals. The vault is most useful when its information is current, clearly labelled and shared only with the people who genuinely need it.
